First Navigation — a level for those who are entering management and learning to operate in a real environment, or who need a systematic base of management knowledge with little management experience. It is about understanding how the management system works: from basic management tools to building an effective team. Participants learn to think through practice, see processes, and make decisions that have a real impact.

Session 1

Challenges of modern management. Thinking of an effective manager

Why

You will form a basic understanding of the challenges of modern management and master the logic of an effective leader. The poetic form reveals deep patterns of thinking and helps to see the connections between the abstract and the concrete — a key skill for a manager.

What we will do

Analysis of the challenges of modern management: uncertainty, speed of changes, complexity of systems. Exploration of models of managerment thinking: analytical, systemic, strategic. Poetry of Ukrainian identity as a method of developing associative thinking and the ability to see the essence through an image. Formation of a personal leadership philosophy through the synthesis of logic and intuition.

What you will take with you

You will acquire a basic understanding of the management system and its key challenges. You will receive tools for structuring managment thinking. You will develop the ability to see deep connections and formulate complex ideas in simple language.

Format

The poetic form as a tool for developing metaphorical thinking. The ability to see the essence through an image helps a leader formulate a vision and communicate complex ideas to the team.

You will master the methodology of planning: from cascading goals to allocating resources.

Architecture, particularly Ukrainian Baroque, shows how clear structure combines with flexibility and how each element has its purpose within the overall system.

What we will do

Cascading goals: from strategy to operational tasks. Methods of resource planning: time, budget, people. Tools of project planning and performance control. Architecture as a metaphor for planning: the foundation (mission), load-bearing structures (strategic goals), décor (tactical decisions). Ukrainian Baroque demonstrates the balance of structure and plasticity.

What you will take with you

You will acquire practical skills in building plans and allocating resources. You will receive tools for decomposing large goals into actionable tasks. You will understand how to create a stable structure that remains flexible.

Format

Architectural principles (hierarchy, proportion, functionality) for creating logical and feasible plans. Ukrainian Baroque as an example of combining structural clarity with creative freedom.

What we will do

Types of organizational structures and the principles for choosing them. Mapping and optimizing business processes. Mechanisms of coordinating actions between departments and cross-functional interaction. Ornamentation as a model of systemic organization: repetition (standards), symmetry (balance), diversity within unity (integration of functions).

You will acquire the ability to design organizational structures for specific tasks. You will receive tools for optimizing processes and establishing coordination. You will understand how to create a system in which every element complements the others.

Motivation theories: from basic needs to self-actualization. Tools of material motivation: reward systems, KPIs, bonuses. Non-material motivation: recognition, development, autonomy. Gardening as a model of motivation: preparing the environment (culture), regular care (feedback), understanding cycles (career stages), the harvest as the result of systematic work.

What you will take with you

You will gain an understanding of the motivation drivers of different types of employees. You will receive tools for building a motivation system. You will understand that sustainable motivation requires a systemic approach, not one-off actions.

Format

Principles of gardening (preparing the soil, care, patience, cycles) for building a motivation system. Understanding that results come through creating the right conditions, not through direct intervention.

Ritual tradition as a model of control: regularity (rhythm of checks), rituality (format of meetings), symbolism (visualization of results), shared norms (quality standards).

You will acquire skills in building systems for measuring effectiveness. You will receive tools for delegating tasks and controlling execution. You will understand how regular rituals create predictability and discipline.

Cultural geography as a metaphor: understanding context (diagnosing readiness), respecting local features (adapting the approach), gradual integration (phased implementation).

What you will take with you

You will acquire a basic understanding of the mechanisms of organizational change. You will receive tools for planning and implementing transformations. You will understand the importance of context and the need to adapt the approach to the specifics of the organization.

Format

Principles of cultural geography (context, local specificity, adaptation) for effective change management. Understanding that universal models require adaptation to a specific organizational landscape.


You will develop skills:

  • Fundamental managerement competencies: formulation of SMART goals and their cascading to the team level, building realistic plans with regard to resources, designing and optimizing business processes, establishing cross-functional interaction. You will learn to diagnose employees’ motivational drivers, delegate effectively with the right balance of autonomy and control, provide developmental feedback, and form a culture of trust and accountability within the team.
  • Key communication skills: conducting effective meetings, leading difficult conversations and managing conflicts, persuading and influencing without formal authority. You will master tools for control without micromanagement — developing a KPI system, monitoring progress, and timely correction of deviations.
  • Practical change management skills: planning and implementing organizational transformations, overcoming resistance to change, anchoring new practices in the culture. You will develop systemic managerial thinking that will allow you to see the organization as a holistic system and make balanced decisions that take various factors into account.
